This Saturday, April 23, in Daugmale, Ķekava county, which until the 12th century was believed to be the largest old town in the entire territory of Latvia, the third season of the popular and largest rogaining or team orientation series “Pilsētas Leģendas” organized by the “Piedzīvojumu sacensību apvienība” association in the Baltic States will continue with the second stage.

Rogaining is held in cooperation with the Ķekava region municipal sports agency, supported by Isostar, Garmin, Valmiermuižas alus, Magnesia. According to the participants' abilities and wishes, the organizers offer 6h Garmin, 4h Kokmuiža and 2h ISOSTAR rogaining distances, as well as 3h MTB, 2h rogaining run (O-Run) and rogaining walk for children.

Four weeks ago, the third season of the rogaining series “Pilsētu leģendas” opened in Boulderai. This Saturday, the second of six stages of the season will take place in Daugmale, Ķekava region. Daugmale is no stranger to those who once actively participated in the adventure race series “Xrace”, because it was there six years ago that the last stage of the “Xrace” 2016 season took place.

In addition to the Daugamale castle hill on the banks of the Daugava, participants will also be able to visit the island of Death, which was not an island at all before the construction of the Riga HPP, and run along the Refugee Road, along which the inhabitants of Kurzeme and Zemgale crossed the Daugava during the First World War. There will be a chance to run up the impressive gravel hills - Sakainu pilskalnas or Riekstukalnas, which were pushed here by a glacier 18 thousand years ago. Running through the pine groves, you will be able to breathe the clean air that was popular with Baldones sanatorium vacationers in the past, but it will be a little more difficult in the swampy depressions, because thicker and more impenetrable bushes have gathered there. Astronomers have installed here the largest optical telescope in the Baltics (and the 12th largest in the world) - the Schmidt telescope. The competition center will be located near Daugmale elementary school.

The participants of the cycling distance will be pleased with the well-traveled forest roads, where sinking sand and sticky mud are rarely encountered. Unfortunately, after a storm, there will be many downed trees on the smaller paths and trails that are difficult to cross or get around.

You can register for participation on the website rigasrogainings.lv/lv/registracija/. Detailed information about the competition is available on the website rigasrogainings.lv.

In Rogaining competitions with 2 to 4 participants, the team includes both athletes and orienteering enthusiasts who are already masters of these competitions, as well as lovers of an active and sporty lifestyle who like to spend their free time in the fresh air and be active. That's why several families also use this option, because rogaining is a very democratic activity in its essence, since the participants can choose the distance and the number of checkpoints suitable for their abilities. See you on Saturday in Daugmale!
