This Saturday, March 26, the third season of the popular and largest rogaining or team orientation series “Pilsētas Leģendas” organized by the “Piedzīvojumu sacensību apvienība” association in the Baltic States will be opened in the Buļļupe area of Riga, where participants are offered different distances according to their abilities and wishes. This will be the first of a total of six stages of the season, which will be held not only in the capital but also in Ķekava, Valmiera and Ogre.

Athletes and orienteering enthusiasts, who are already masters of these competitions, as well as lovers of an active and sporty lifestyle, who like to spend their free time in the fresh air and be active, take part in the Rogaining competition, where the team consists of 2 to 4 participants. That's why many families also participate, because rogaining is a very democratic activity in its essence, since participants can choose the distance and the number of checkpoints that suit their abilities. The organizers offer 6h, 4h and 2h rogaining distances, as well as a 3h MTB, a 2h rogaining run (O-Run) and a rogaining walk for children. The competition center will be located in the territory of Riga's Jauna Bolderāja elementary school.

The search for checkpoints in the opening phase of the season will take place on both banks of Bullŏupe, and for the first time in the history of Riga Rogaining, it will also be on the island of Bullŏ or Daugavgrīva. Participants will have the opportunity to occupy both the “neieņemamo” Daugavgrīva fortress and Komētfort on the seashore, as well as to find both the oldest, the later, and also the modern Lielupe estuary in the sea. In the course of the competition, you will be able to see the Paula Jaunzemja boulder sculptures on the shore of Vakarbulli, as well as try to see if Love Island is really in the shape of a (gingerbread) heart. The most hardy runners will be able to reach the Lielupes Balto dune. At the finish, everyone will receive a commemorative medal and at the end of the event there will be Garmin, Isostar, etc. lottery and awarding of gifts provided by supporters.

MTB riders will have the opportunity to participate in all "Pilsētas leģendas posmos" this season, so they will be able to fully enjoy the entire series. The overall rating will be calculated by summing the points obtained in all stages together, except for the 1 stage with the lowest score (a missed stage is also considered as such). O-Run distance runners will no longer have a command distance this year, but a classic rogaining optional distance with a 2-hour time limit, where you have to plan and collect the maximum number of points yourself (any - without restrictions).

You can register for participation on the website rigasrogainings.lv/lv/registracija/. Detailed information about the competition is available on the website rigasrogainings.lv.

In Rogaining, participants visit checkpoints with different value of points in a certain time limit in order of choice, trying to get as many credit points as possible in the allotted time, which are awarded for visiting checkpoints. Planning the distance and the number of checkpoints is up to each participant, doing it on a specially prepared map. The good news is that a Covid-19 certificate will not be required for participation.
