Original publication date: 26.05.2017
On Sunday, July 30, the popular team orienteering competition Olaines rogaining will take place for the first time on the Olaines Mežaparka stage. Participants are offered distances of different time limits - 2, 4 and 6 hours, as well as a 3-hour MTB distance, which individual participants can complete with bicycles, and an 8-kilometer trail run for beginners around Olaine with small orientation elements. Registration is possible on the website www.olainesrogainings.lv
The start of the race will be given at Olaines Mežapark near the stage, but the rogaining area will stretch all around Olanei - on the east side from Apšukalni to Pēternieki, while on the west side the race map will take you to the borders of Mārupe and Babīte counties in Cena tirele, which will be enjoyed the most by the participants of the longest distances.
The smallest participants - children up to the age of 12 - will be offered the opportunity to participate in a rogaining walk with instructors, which will last less than 2 hours. To participate in the walk, you must register on the competition website, where the participation fee is 1 EUR until the week of the competition. Each participant will receive a commemorative medal from Olaine rogaining at the finish.
The competition will be one of the last opportunities to improve and renew rogaining skills for participants who plan to participate in the World Rogaining Championship, which will take place in Latgale - in the vicinity of Rāzna Lake in mid-August. Olaines rogaining especially invites beginners and participants who are not familiar with rogaining to try and familiarize themselves with the sport at one of the shorter distances.
Olaines rogaining is a team orienteering sport where participation takes place in teams of 2 to 4 members. Friends, families, company groups can join the team without gender and age restrictions. Registration for the competition is available on the website www.olainesrogainings.lv. The competition is offered by Olaine County Council.
