One month until Olaine Rogaining’s second season
There is only one month left until the second Olaine rogaining, or terrain orientation team competition, which will take place this year on May 12 at the Olaines Mežaparka stage. Just like last year, runners and orienteers are invited to participate in the 2-hour, 4-hour Olainfarm, 6-hour Isostar orienteering distances or the 8km rogaining race, as well as cyclists will be able to challenge themselves in the 3-hour MTB cycling distance. On the other hand, children are offered a rogaining walk with instructors, and until the week of the competition, every child can register for this distance for free.

Last year, the rogaining was organized for the first time in Olaine, gathering more than a hundred teams. This orienteering team competition, known as rogaining, evoked feelings of adventure and satisfaction in the participants and provided a dose of positivity for the city itself. Therefore, what was started will have a continuation, and the rogaining will take place again this year in Olaine, who loves and supports sports competitions. Only this time it will not take place in the middle of summer in July, but much earlier - on the second Saturday of May.
The event will take place on May 12, 2018, with the starting place of the competition at the usual Olaines Mežaparka stage (Veselības iela 7). Also this time, Olaines rogaining will call for different distances - 8km rogaining race or 2h, 4h Olainfarm and 6h Isostar rogaining in the classic format of teams of two to four participants. Unlike the traditional Riga Rogaining, the Olaines rogaining is also designed for cycling lovers, as the competition program also includes an individual 3-hour MTB bicycle rogaining. Although the distances and disciplines are the same, the map will be changed, and therefore part of the distance will lead through new places.
The first start is scheduled at 11:00 for participants of all running distances - for 2, 4 and 6 hour rogaining, 8km rogaining run and children's walk. Ten minutes later or at At 11:10 a start will be given for the 3-hour MTB individual cycling race. Every race finisher will receive a commemorative medal.
The orientation area will be diverse, including both the city itself and natural areas with roads of different surfaces, trails and natural obstacles, such as swamps, thus a decisive role in noticing and using the features of the area. Although this time the competition takes place almost three months earlier, we are still hoping for warm and dry weather conditions similar to those experienced last summer. You won't have to worry about parking your car, as participants will be able to park it in a parking lot specially designed for the competition on Jelgavas street, near the competition center.
