3. GENERAL RULES
3.1. Rogaining is a competition where teams (and individuals in the MTB and 2h Solo rogaining courses), navigating in the terrain, visit control points marked on the map in a self-selected order. Each control point has a different point value, and the aim is to collect as many points as possible within the time limit of the chosen course.
3.2. Participants move on foot only (in MTB courses – by bicycle), using the competition map issued by the organisers for navigation. The use of electronic navigation devices is only allowed in case of getting lost.
3.3. Traffic is not stopped during the rogaining. By taking part in the competition, participants are obliged to observe the Road Traffic Regulations of the Republic of Latvia, follow the instructions of the organisers and officials, and respect specially marked areas on the course and in the competition centre.
3.4. The organisers reserve the right to delay the start, change the course of the competition, hold teams on the course or stop the competition if this is related to dangerous weather conditions or other circumstances that pose a safety risk to the participants.
3.5. Within the framework of the competition it is allowed to include a company or organisation name or brand in the team name and to place stickers on equipment and participants’ clothing in accordance with these regulations. Any type of company or organisation advertising activity that has not been coordinated with the organisers, both during the competition and at related events, is prohibited. The penalty for non-compliance with this point is 2000 EUR. Advertising is allowed on participants’ clothing, shoes and competition equipment (backpacks, etc.).
3.6. The organisers reserve the right to change and amend these rules, procedures and requirements at any time before and during the competition.
4. COURSES
2h rogaining, 4h rogaining and 6h rogaining are held in teams of 2–5 participants, of whom at least one must be 18 years old on the day of the competition.
2h Solo rogaining is an individual course where the participant plans their route and tries to collect as many points as possible by running within 2 hours.
3h bike rogaining is an individual course where the participant plans their route and tries to collect as many points as possible within 3 hours by bike. A fastened protective helmet must be worn on the head throughout the whole course.
The Legend Hike is an interactive adventure that transforms an ordinary walk into an exciting journey of discovery. It is designed for participants to explore the secrets of the surroundings at their own pace, free from the rush of competition. Using the Actionbound app, your smartphone becomes your personal guide—as soon as you reach a task location, legendary stories and game questions will automatically open on your phone. In nature, these locations are easily identifiable by orange and white fabric markers (prisms). The app tracks your location automatically, allowing you to focus entirely on exploring without needing any specialized prior knowledge.
Distance Formats
-
10 km Interactive Distance (2–3 h): The app features a precisely marked route line for you to follow. The path leads through sequential points filled with stories and game elements—perfect for families and a relaxing getaway.
-
20 km Adventure Distance (4–5 h): A marked route line that combines a physical challenge with rich digital content. An excellent choice for active lifestyle enthusiasts seeking a full day in nature.
-
Hike with a Map: Total freedom of choice without a fixed line in the app. Participants plan their own route and search for the orange and white markers in any order, using the app only to complete tasks once a point is found.
Just like participants in other distances, hikers will receive commemorative medals and goodies from sponsors at the finish line, as well as entry into a lottery. Bonus: Participants who answer at least 5 questions correctly in the app will be entered into a special draw for additional prizes at the start of the lottery.
Please note: While the distance can be completed at any time, to participate in the lottery and receive a medal, you must finish no earlier than the start time of the final distance and no later than 30 minutes after the final distance's time limit.
2h Children's Walk (3–5 km) for children up to 12 years of age (inclusive). Little explorers can head into a forest adventure with an instructor provided by the organizers or use the Actionbound app to search for checkpoints and complete exciting tasks on their smartphones at their own pace. If the participant is under 7 years old, the participation of one adult is mandatory to accompany and take responsibility for the child. The accompanying adult does not have to pay for participation.
