3. GENERAL RULES
3.1. Rogaining is a competition where teams (and individuals in MTB and rogaining run courses), by navigating in terrain, visit control points marked on the map in a self-chosen order. Each control point has a different point value, and the goal is to collect as many points as possible within the time limit of the chosen course.
3.2. Participants move on foot only in the running courses (and by bicycle in MTB courses), using the competition map provided by the organizers for navigation. During the course it is allowed to use electronic navigation devices only in case of getting lost.
3.3. During the rogaining event the traffic is not stopped, and by participating in the competition, participants are obliged to observe the traffic rules of the Republic of Latvia, follow the instructions of the competition referees and organizers, and respect specially marked areas on the course and in the event centre.
3.4. The organizers reserve the right to delay the start, change the flow of the competition, hold teams on the course, or stop the competition if it is related to dangerous weather conditions or other circumstances that may pose a safety risk to participants.
3.5. Within the event it is allowed to include a company’s or organization’s name or brand in the team name, as well as place stickers on equipment or participants’ clothing in accordance with these regulations. Any kind of company or organization promotional activity that has not been coordinated with the organizers is prohibited during the competition and the related events. The penalty for non-compliance with this rule is 2000 EUR. Advertising is allowed on participants’ clothing, shoes, and race equipment (backpacks, etc.).
3.6. The organizers reserve the right to change and amend these rules, procedures and requirements at any time before and during the competition.

8. COURSE AND PUNCHING
8.1. The competition takes place in accordance with the rogaining rules approved by LOF, unless otherwise specified in these regulations. The Latvian version of the rules is published on the Latvian rogaining homepage: https://rogaining.lv/web/noteikumi.
8.2. Before the start, each participant receives a set of maps – one competition map per participant.
8.3. The participant’s bib number must be worn in a visible place during the competition – on the backpack or on the race clothing.
8.4. Punching at control points is done using the SPORTIdent system, with each team member using the SI card provided by the organizers. SI cards are assigned to the team and not to individual participants, therefore it does not matter which SI card is used by which team member.
8.5. For a control point to be counted, all team members must punch there within two minutes, and for each control point only the first punch is taken into account. If a participant punches more than once, only the first punch of that particular member at that particular control point will be counted; therefore, do not approach the control until you are sure that all team members can punch within the specified time.
8.6. Using the provided wristbands, team members must firmly attach the SI card to their wrist before the start so that it cannot be removed without damaging the wristband, and must ensure that the SI card is not damaged or torn off until the finish, where it may only be removed by a competition official. Starting with a non-attached SI card may result in disqualification or another penalty at the discretion of the chief referee.
8.7. If, when punching at a control, there is no sound signal or the red light does not flash, or the SI station cannot be found at the control point location or the control point is damaged, participants must act according to the instructions indicated on the map.
8.8. The team’s finish time is recorded at the moment when the last team member punches at the finish control. After punching at the finish, while still in the finish area, under the supervision of the referees, the SI wristbands must be removed, SI cards and all rented equipment must be returned.
8.9. For each minute late after the time limit, the team receives 1 penalty point, which is deducted from the total number of points collected by the team. If the team finishes more than 30 minutes after the time limit, all points are cancelled. Control points visited after the time limit are not counted.
8.10. For each torn SI wristband, the team receives 5 penalty points, which are deducted from the total number of points collected by the team.
8.11. Participants must respect the principles of fair play, both when completing the course and in the use of equipment and other unauthorized aids. Running with a dog is allowed only on a leash. If, in the opinion of the referees, this gives an advantage, it is also considered an aid, and in such cases the result will be calculated, but it will be marked in the results as starting out of competition.
8.12. If an accident occurs to any team member or if for any other reason the team cannot continue the course, the referees must be contacted and further action agreed upon.
8.13. After the team has finished or withdrawn, participants must return the rented SI card and any other rented equipment to the organizers. When returning the equipment, the participant must ensure that the equipment return official has marked all returned items. For any unreturned rented equipment, the participant must pay a penalty fee in accordance with these regulations.
8.14. Participants are prohibited from leaving any kind of litter on the course, crossing cultivated fields, farmyards of homesteads, forbidden areas, or violating restrictions on private property, using motor vehicles, as well as using any outside assistance, except in cases where first aid is required.
8.15. At the discretion of the referees, penalties may also be imposed for other violations not mentioned in these regulations that, in their opinion, have provided an advantage, caused disturbance or posed a threat to other participants. For example, moving or damaging a control point, etc. Penalties may be penalty points or disqualification.
9. EQUIPMENT AND RENTAL
9.1. For planning and completing the course, it is useful to have a compass with degree markings, a pen (waterproof marker for planning and notes), ruler, watch, sports drink, energy food and weather-appropriate clothing.
9.2. Participants can rent compasses by reserving them in advance during online registration or by writing to xevents@xevents.lv.
9.3. Participants must handle rental equipment with care and return it to the organizers undamaged. If rental equipment is damaged or lost on the course, the participant must compensate the organizers for the loss in the following amounts: SI card – 80 EUR; compass – 20 EUR; GPS – 80 EUR. The participant must cover the damage within 3 working days after the competition by transferring the amount to the organizers’ bank account.
9.4. For calling for help in emergency situations, it is recommended – but not mandatory – to have a mobile phone (preferably in a waterproof case) and/or a whistle.
10. RESULTS AND PRIZE-GIVING
10.1. The result is determined by the total number of points collected from control points registered in the SI cards, minus penalty points. If two or more teams (or individuals in the 3h MTB and 2h O-Run courses) have the same number of points, the winner is the team that has collected the given number of points in the shorter time.
10.2. Official results are published on the competition website no later than 3 days after the competition.
10.3. Prizes are awarded to the top three places in each category. The organizers reserve the right to congratulate only the first place if the number of teams or participants in a category does not exceed 6 teams. Teams will be ranked and awarded only within their age category; therefore, junior, veteran and super veteran teams do not compete and are not awarded within the Open category.
10.4. Protests must be submitted in writing no later than 15 minutes after the publication of the results, together with a deposit of 30 EUR. The deposit will be returned if the protest is upheld. The protest is reviewed immediately if no additional information or investigation is required. All interested parties are informed about the decision. The decision of the chief referee is final and binding on all competition participants.
11. TVNET+ CORPORATE CHALLENGE PRIZE
11.1. The aim of the TVNET+ Corporate Challenge Prize (hereinafter – the Corporate Prize) is to determine the best corporate teams in rogaining, to promote team building, endurance and cooperation within companies by offering an exciting and sporty adventure for teams. This prize gives companies a unique opportunity to build team spirit, develop their strategy and compete in friendly rivalry, where the main focus is on the joy of participation, new contacts and strengthening the team, rather than on the competitive aspect alone.
11.2. The team entry fee is specified in point 7.2 of the regulations. The corporate class entry fee additionally includes:
- Separate prizes for rogaining events and the Corporate Challenge;
- Link/logo in the team list to the company’s specified website;
- Company photo collage;
- Special offers from partners.
11.3. The Corporate Prize is held within the 4-hour course, and teams may consist of any composition – mixed, women’s or men’s.
11.4. In the Corporate Prize there is a separate competition for the prize between teams representing companies or organizations. All rules mentioned in these regulations apply to the Corporate Prize class, unless otherwise specified in Section 11 and its subsections.
11.5. In the corporate class, in each rogaining event in the 4-hour course, the team’s result is determined by the total number of points collected in control points in the shortest possible time. If two or more teams have the same number of points, the higher place is given to the team that finishes faster.
11.6. The overall Corporate Prize is calculated by summing the points obtained by a given company’s team (by name) over all rogaining events in the given course, excluding their one lowest score (this may also be a missed event). If the total points are equal, the higher place is determined by the shorter total time spent on the courses. If the total times are also equal, the higher place is determined by the better result in the last rogaining of the season.
11.5. The top three teams in the Corporate Prize, regardless of category, are awarded separate prizes. The corporate class team’s result is also included in the overall Legend Rogaining ranking according to the class and category in which the team has started, thus they also participate in the overall prize fight.
12. PUBLICITY AND PRIVACY
12.1. Photography and filming will take place during the competition.
12.2. By registering for the competition, participants confirm that they do not object to the use of photos and video material taken during the rogaining event for any marketing and promotional activities of the organizer, and that the organizers have the right to use this material for public relations and advertising purposes without separate consent from the persons visible in the material, as well as to offer other participants the opportunity to download this material.
12.3. By registering for the competition, participants confirm that they do not object to the publication of the start list and results on the competition website.
